About me

Hi, I'm Morven McLelland, an Occupational Therapist (DipCOT SROT / PG Cert / HCPC Registered) with a particular passion for helping people regain confidence and independence in everyday life.

My career has taken a slightly unconventional path. Alongside traditional Occupational Therapy practice, I've trained in Equine Assisted Therapy and Learning including Hippotherapy , as I am drawn to the unique way working alongside horses can support emotional regulation, confidence, and personal growth — skills that, it turns out, translate beautifully into how I approach more "everyday" OT work too. I also bring Yin Yoga, Movement & Meditation, and Reiki into my practice, because I believe real independence isn't just physical — it's about feeling calm, capable, and at home in your own body.

What ties all of this together is a simple belief: the small, ordinary tasks of daily life — getting in and out of the bath, dressing, reaching, balancing — matter enormously. When they become difficult, it can affect confidence far more than people expect. I created Functional Independence because I wanted to offer practical, honest, evidence-based support for exactly these moments — accessible from home, at your own pace, without judgment.

Whether you're recovering from an injury, managing a long-term condition, or simply noticing things have become a little harder than they used to be, I hope you find something genuinely useful here.

Best Wishes,
Morven
